10 TueadminFor Tuesday 10th June

48 hours in Medway hospital via A&E. at end of May .
24 hour care since 2005

Nights - sleep pattern very bad for last 3 months
Even a good night will have some noises or wandering.
The complete range of noises can be loud all night long
Wandering round her room and walking down stairs
Pulling things out of the cupboards and drawers
Taking off her cloths or putting on extra
Can be very aggressive
Becomes physically very strong
2 types of sleeping tablet have been tried unsuccessfully. She was more agitated and upset.

Days
- Eating has only managed pureed food for last 2 years (except cake!)
- Drinks a lot and now asks for water

Mostly very weary, but with help can walk to bathroom etc..
Some days shouting, groaning and growling and very distre ssed.
Breathing can be very laboured
Recognition and communication is variable

Doubly incontinent? but needs Movicole daily.

Considered moving bed downstairs - but having slept in the same room for 66years hope she can continue..
Hoping for some help with night time ?medication? but would like advice for agency to provide night sitting? Elizabeth needs to sleep!

Hope you can sharpen up and add to the 'aid' I've sent you..

I have anguished about how to get the info over - of not only how M is, but also how we feel about the awful situation .
All 4 of us are in total aggreement that :-
She is in a lot of pain a lot of the time - both physically and in her head. She is 'crying out' for help - and we don't know what to do..
She has said over and over again that she has had enough.

We have done what we think is the best - for her to be cared for at home and to have the best quality of life possible. Her 'life' is now awful.
She went through her working life as a pioneer in farming she would be game for trying anything - maybe she could try .. a new medication perhaps to ease her pain..

Sorry, all a bit rambley - I had hoped to be with you today. Planning to get over on Saturday for a couple of days before I get locked into my next 'project' (don't tell E please).

Let me know how it goes - if you need any backup during the meeting you can phone me.
Sxx

Saw the psychiatrist who has warned that new tablets will cause a lot of problems with her heart and she will only have fewer days but will be able to sleep and be less agitated
